I spent a couple of years in the Chicago NW burbs with a fancy new job. Real estate is near California, and you have to work your brains off to afford it. If you want to go ANYWHERE it takes a minimum of an hour, even if you need a washer for plumbing. People there that I met think nothing of commuting 1.5hrs each way to work. THINK about that! Toledo, 20min anywhere!. Frankly, I just found it a pain in the ass.
The job was great, except I was working 12-17hrs a day, and traveling every other weekend. I decided to scale way back, marry Julie, and return to Toledo and have a life. Toledo is a great place to be from. You have the affordable lifestyle here, and can spend the extra on travel and fun times.
Besides, I don't want to lose you as a neighbor and fellow Saab fanatic! So it really all boils down to I wouldn't want you to leave. And Toledo is a great place to raise a family if you ever want to go in that direction.
Personally, I always thought I would end up in the NW, but here I am. Life is good. Good luck with your decision. Chicago really is a pain....
