Sec. 15-159. Parking for extended period prohibited.
No person shall park a vehicle on any street continuously for a period of time exceeding two (2) weeks without changing the location of such vehicle.
Problem is the warning note says that the vehicle is in violation and will be towed in two weeks. So basically you are not in violation until you don't move for two weeks and then they have come out, warn and then tow two weeks later. I got the warning after just two days because the anonymous caller said the cars were abandoned for weeks and the cops didn't bother checking that information. I guess the police use the two week warning to check the car hasn't been moved for two weeks. This all corresponds with the 4 weeks I was told in the past. I don't have the exact text of the warning note handy, but is very ambiguous, particularly if you were told 4 weeks. Even after being towed, I was told 4 weeks by numerous people.
I should add that almost no one in the town knows about this regulation as it is not posted or made public or enforced (unless someone complains). It is really a go screw your neighbor rule. It is also ridiculous to consider a car abandoned with proper tags and registered to an address in the town. Two abandoned cars registered to the same owner parked one behind the other is well just about impossible.
