Here is the actual ordinance
Sec. 15-159. Parking for extended period prohibited.
No person shall park a vehicle on any street continuously for a period of time exceeding two (2) weeks without changing the location of such vehicle.
I don't have the state one handy that says no signs are required for this type of ordinance.
I think another argument could be that this law goes with the person not the vehicle. If someone else gets into the car then the vehicle is either standing or stopping and not parked. [Same logic applies to sitting in a car at a meter without money in the meter. One is not considered parked.] The other person gets out and now it is parked again even without being moved. New person and new parking and so two weeks again on two counts. Thus, the law is vague.
I suppose one could also argue that the earth moves and thus the location is changed in space. The law doesn't specify a reference frame.
The police will not tell me how they know the vehicle wasn't moved. Can I request this information before a lawsuit? I assume a penny, but that would have to be documented somewhere. Also, law enforcement can waive a law by instructing you otherwise such as telling you to go through a red light. Why would a similar rule not apply to incorrect parking regulation information. The town should pay for the cops errors, not me. A memo was sent out clarifying this matter inside the police dept.
