The tow business is a naturally corrupt business, supported by cooperation with the local government and law enforcement. Taking all these folks to task on a tehcnicality on notice, while fun for some, is likely fruitless.

Put all that energy forward instead of trying to fight city hall. Let it drop.

It's 72 hours and then a tow here in SoCal, or worse in some of the upscale areas as you can't even park on the street. If they're giving you a generous two weeks where you live, I wouldn't push it.
