Yes, leaving out the drive is a drawback. And I'd like a bigger screen, more expansion, capability - wait! I know - it's called a desktop.
I'll tell you exactly what that that model is excellent for - travellers. I hate travelling with my work laptop (Dell WinTel machine - Yuk!) Travelling with a laptop is like travelling with a small child - you have to watch it like a hawk, and it seems to have an unlimited number of accessories/toys to bring along.
For travel, or if as a student bringing it around with me, I want the lightest, thinnest machine I can find. Yes, it means giving something up. But I can see linking into my external drives/networks when I get to my home base.
Is it the perfect laptop for everyone? No. But that's why Apple sells a range of them. But for someone that needs to have an actually portable machine, it makes a world of sense.
