The Saab 9-5 contains an airbag built into the side of the seat back facing the door. This contains an explosive charge that is detonated electrically when an impact occurs.
Detonation of the explosive charge will destroy the seat/new office chair...and probably scare the *#$% out of your assistant if she/he is sitting on your lap....in addition to the possibility of injury.
Seriously, I don't have a neat answer for this application of a Saab car seat. However, at the least, I suggest that it might be a good idea to identify the connector and wires involved in the airbag circuitry....and disable them to prevent inadvertent activation. This is possibility while one is in the process of tracing/testing wiring for the seat heater and power seat function. One large connector (H29-1 or H29-2) contains the wiring for the seat heater, seat adjustments, seat ventilation AND THE AIRBAG! As a matter of fact, the wiring for the seat heater uses terminals in the connector adjacent to the connections for the airbag detonation circuit (2000 9-5).
Hopefully, other Saab owners who have further researched and addressed this safety issue will add/respond to this post.
