DER may have hit upon the reason that the batteries in my two previous Saabs failed after 2 or 2-1/2-years. Each may have incurred a long period of not being charged.
My 1999 9-3SE sat on the lot 6 or 7 months before I acquired it. And I didn't drive my 2005 9-5 Arc Wagon for a three month period (although it worked fine for a couple of months after that, before failing.)
