Barnacle Billy's! Posted by Larry West [Email] (#1140) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Larry West) on Tue, 5 Feb 2008 09:42:50 In Reply to: Re: Whats good in Maine?, turbocon86, Mon, 4 Feb 2008 18:26:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If you're eating at Perkins Cove, you have to eat at Barnacle Billy's - the original, not the "etc." Both have good food, but at the Original, you order at a counter, grab a seat, wait for your number to be called, get your own food from the counter, pay more than most places you get waited on, and LOVE every minute of it...
Their chowder is the best!
And to get there from the Nubble, you MUST take Shore Road (out of York, follow the signs to Cape Neddick, pass the Cape Neddick Lobster Pound, over the bridge, and have fun!
Ogunquit also has an awesome beach.
From there, Kennebunkport is a nice shopping village, and on your way to Cape Porpoise (couple nice restaurants, but you're really there for the scenery - no shopping there), gawk at Walker Point, summer home of G.H.W. Bush. Know it by the tall flagpole and windmill.
Up the coast there are dozens of neat places to go. If you like outdoorsy stuff, Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, LL Bean in Freeport, to name only a couple. Bar Harbor has Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, and there is Mount Kathadin inland.
And quite a few Saabers up that way...
