you can use it to jack up one section or the car at a time, or you can use it just behind the front tire, there is a jack point, if that jack goes high enough, it will raise the entire side of the car high enough so that you can do two tires at one time. Remember to always loosen the lug nuts on the wheels before jacking it up, and although you said you dont want to buy jack stands, wally world has a set for i believe 15 dollars, its always a good idea, you dont want it crashing down on your leg or hand etc.
also, on the jack we use, we do not block the wheels on the jack, whether its in our stone driveway or in our concrete floor barn, have never had an issue w/ it slipping out, just remember to use the cars jack points and jack it up on a level surface.
