We purchased our first Saabs in 1985. a new 900T 5 speed four door in February, I later was to learn it was the first year of the 16valve engine, it rocked then! then in November we got a twin save color for my wife. We purchased both of these from San Diego Saab. Long since gone. in 1987 my wife was T boned by a guy that ran a light. 22,000 miles on the car and totaled. Wife ok, other than seat belt bruise, car was stretched a bit as the impact was in the left from wheel, gap between doors was larger on the left side than before, and much larger than the right side.

So we went shopping and much to our disappointment the 900T four door was not being imported, the 9000 had be introduced, you want a four door get a 9000, you want a three door get a 900T hatch, wife said... no... We searched high and low, looked at all kinds of cars... and finally settled on a 900S, which in the 1987 model had the same seats, wheels, and some other items the same as the 1985 900T. Basically same same except without turbo.

Where is this going? Well, in 1987 we purchased the car from Continental Motors in Oceanside, from a very helpful and knowledgeable guy named Micky Pleasant. And 30 years later, and while Mike Lynch was there, Mickey is still there, but selling more BMW's than the Saabs. But still there and available if needed. Now the owner (same one all along) has sold off the BMW side and is concentrating on the Saabs, and Mickey and others that used to play both brands have to choose BMW or Saab, some when one way, some the other...

But I agree that for the most part the dealerships, owners, sales types, and the mechanics (including my first two Saab mechanics, one is now a service writer for another brand, and the other is a technical writer for a larger maker of Farming equipment) change or move on more frequently than other brands... But there are a few die hard ones out there!

However, how many of you are in the some job with the same company after five years or ten years?
