At least that is the way it seems to me. Actually, it sounded like the drum was clunking as it went around. When I took a panel off the back of my 14yo gas dryer, it became obvious that the motor was stuttering for some reason. It looks like the drum and blower are run off of the same motor, and when the motor hesitated or stuttered both the drum and blower output stuttered.
Strangely, by the time it was done drying, the stutter went away. Wife tells me the same happened for her.
I'd like to fix this myself, and it does not seem as though the mechanism is very complicated. However I'm not really sure what I should be looking for. Does this sound like bad brushes? Connection? Motor? It sure seems like it is an electrical problem.
If it were my Saab, I'd be looking at plugs and Di. Maybe vacuum. Nasty misfire to start.
