I had one bad experience Posted by Rod [Email] (#3128) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Rod) on Mon, 4 Aug 2008 09:19:24 In Reply to: PayPal Experiences, Scott Paterson [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 4 Aug 2008 06:24:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I ordered two sets of shims for my bike shoes from an online store - one set for Look pedals and one for SPD's. Only the SPD's showed up. The online store (which must have been a pretty small and shabby operation) never responded to any of my emails and I couldn't find a phone number for them.
So I opened a dispute with Paypal, who, to my suprise, refused to credit me the money for the set of shims that didn't show up since they said I received what I ordered, just not the right quantity. Apparently they won't get involved if they see the issue as one of quantity. Apart from being a totally dumb policy, they wouldn't accept my argument that I had ordered two different items, so it was definitely not a "quantity" issue.
Luckily I had paid with credit card through Paypal so I was able to get my card refunded with no problems.
Lesson learned - always pay with credit card through Paypal, even though they, very irritatingly, won't let you default to that.
