My year-round driver is a 2000 Viggen, but I store my British sports cars!
I live in Canada and I have stored my sports cars every winter for the last 31 years as follows:
1 - My first TR6: stored in my UN-heated garage for 23 winters. Fresh oil change, disconnected the battery, on tires, no gas stabilizer. I sold the car in 2000, at 73,000 miles, still running very well on teh original engine that had never been opened. No engine issues, no gas issues, no tire issues. Batteries would occasionally go bad because I did not re-charge them regularly. A trickle charger cured that problem.
2 - My current TR6: same routine, but I did use gas stabilizer during the last 2 years. I did not see any improvement or advantage
3 - My current MGB GT: same routine as the current TR6 for the last 2 winters. All is well.
The engine in the current TR6 and the MGB GT have required rebuilding, but for reasons UNrelated to winter storage.
The Viggen is a much more modern car than my British cars and I expect it would not be affected by winter storage. I certainly think that oil in the cylinders is overkill, but I am NOT a mechanic nor an expert; this is only based on my experience with my British cars.
With the Viggen I would definately use a trickle battery charger. Some models monitor the battery and shutdown when the battery is fully charged to prevent over charging. This system keeps the battery in good fully-charged condition and you do not loose any electronic data (sound system etc.).
