Guys, I just posted about low balling the dealer. Thanks for the feedback. Here are some more specs. I visited the dealer today.

2005 Subaru Legacy GT (turbo) sedan, not "Limited" however (no sunroof or leather). 27k miles, auto transmission, black. Excellent condition except small paint scrape marks on drivers door (not noticeable, but there), and also the stock gas/brake pedals have been replaced with aftermarket looking ones that say "STI" on them. 3000 miles / 3 month warranty. Sticker price on car $20100, online advertised price $16987, KBB value $17170, NADA trade-in value $15175, NADA retail value $17600. Went for a 20 minute test drive, leg got kind of cramped (a little small for a 6'7" guy but I could probably manage). I said I'd call him tomorrow once I heard back about my loan application. He said a few times (without my prodding) something along the lines that he couldnt go down in price. As I was making a move for my car (and avoiding his invitation to go inside and sit down to talk about financing) he said maybe they could go down "a couple hundred dollars" but said that only because its the weekend and a different manager is here. He said tomorrow, Monday, the used car manager will be in and he won't budge on the price. If I could get the car for $16000, I'd pull the trigger. Its the cheapest car I've found of this year, but the marks on the driver door and pedals make me nervous. I'm looking for something unique, but ultimately this car will need to be very reliable (someone suggested I check out Subarus, my Saab just died). The salesman asked for my number before I said goodbye, and he said "the ball is in your court." okie dokie. So is it likely they cant go lower than $16987? The car was in a back lot and was quite dusty... and now its like a four year old car, like one of the posters here said. I could wait a week or two, and call back with a final offer. I'm new to this. Thanks for any advice you have.
Robert
