I have a 9000 Aero, and my wife drives an '00 Outback Legacy Wagon. I like her car, and I even helped her pick it out (while we were dating). It's great in the snow, it handles fine, gets pretty good gas mileage (for an AWD), and has been reliable.
That being said, I would not want to have it as an only car. If you're concerned about the seating comfort now, just wait until you sit in it for a while. I can't drive/ride in her car for more than an hour or two before I realize that I need something to support my back. The L-GTs are nice cars, and are surely fun to drive, and they may fit some people better than me, but I would not likely consider on as an only car.
FYI, I'm 5'11", and skinny. Headroom is not an issue. Seat shape and position is the issue for me.
If I were you, I'd rent one, or borrow one for a whole day/weekend and see how you can live with it.
Oh, and the dealer is playing typical mind games. I like Hux's recommendation and take on the car.
