We will soon be replacing our home PC, a 6-year old Athalon 1700 running Windows XP. I know Vista is a memory hog and have read comments that 4 meg or more is necessary, yet other comments state that use of this much memory dictates a 64 bit O/S.
Is it true that old programs , i.e. Office XP Pro 2003, will not operate with a 64 bit O/S? How much software and peripherals do I need to anticipate replacing?
