I mean, you have Toyota and Lexus....although the ES 300 uses the Camry, it can be said that they are two different cars, and they do appeal to different people (incomes). Same applies to LandCruiser and LX 470. The Lexus GX is the Toyota Prado, but they don't sell that one here.
Nissan uses the same concept as Toyota, but you will find no similarities between Nissans and Infinities. The infinities are RWD and pricier, Nissans are FWD and considered "economical". I don't think that there are any cars that you can put side by side and say that they are the same (exclude Armada/QX whatever)
Honda does not do the re-badging either. They share platforms, but the vehicles are completely different. If not, ask my CR-V friend what he thought of my RDX when he drove it.
The European brands (that come to the US) also provide you with a single badge per model.
Mitsubishi...well, they are just trying to stay alive.
Suzuki, same as above.

What am I missing here? why the re-badging? instead of the "cheap" and "premium" brands, offer one car and let the person choose their options. There is really no point in having a Mercury Mariner and a Ford Escape, and a Mazda Tribute.....they don't only share the underpinings, they are the same car!!!! Just give me the Escape and let me check the boxes for the things I want....
