Thanks for your feedback, Eric. I already have a 17' Coleman RAM-X canoe that I bought in the early 80's. Wish I had paid the extra $'s and got a good Grumman or Old Town. The Coleman is rather klunky and heavy, but it sounds like the Saab roofrack would handle it. If I decide the Coleman is too heavy to load for my old (64) body, then I can always replace it with a pontoon boat later. Mounting only the frame on the roofrack and stuffing the pontoons in the hatchback makes very good sense.
