I have had the curve for a few weeks now. Didn't have a choice (from work) so didn't compare to others. I don't drive and dial and using phones in car I avoid as driver (have only answered 2 or 3 calls in life while driving). However, I can say dialing isn't has bad as it looks like it would be; besides you'll want to set up any numbers your going to be calling in your contacts; it is nice how it syncs up with outlook contacts making it easy to manage. The voice dialing recognition seems pretty good too although I haven't really used it except to play with it a little. Clearly though for use as a phone a standard phone without extra stuff is going to be easier to dial.
I was worried about size; it doesn't really seem too bad for the pocket. I tend to often carry phones in hand and it is just a little wide to grasp comfortably in hand for long periods while say walking. However height and depth are good.
However, if your going to use email and browser functionality you don't really want to go any smaller on the screen so size is a trade off.
Does fit perfectly in 9-5 center console cutout in dash.
