A few words about Buick and GM dealerships... We actually have a 2006 Buick Rendezvous CXL. We were starting our family when we bought it as a lease-return and it seemed like an absolute steal. It hasn't ever left us stranded, but I will never ever ever buy another Buick or GM (or American)...not for a good LONG while, anyway. It isn't necessarily sub-par in regard to reliability, but quality of materials, fit-and-finish, etc. is really an embarrassment. Fortunately, it's my wife's vehicle and she doesn't do any long-distance driving to speak of and it does get her from point A to point B and has an air-conditioner that works very well (basically the two criteria my wife has on her vehicle "must-have" list). Sadly, there is absolutely nothing else that has the same numbers as the Rendezvous when comparing seating, legroom, headroom, etc. That's about the only reason this thing is still occupying a space in our garage.
For what it's worth, this area is crawling with Buicks. The Rendezvous is very popular, the Enclave is starting to pop up all over the place, and the sedans are a top-pick among the silver-haired. Yes, it's probably due to our geographic location and demographic makeup, but it's still a fact. I might even be so bold as to say that Buicks outnumber Pontiacs around here.
I also just read a news piece that GM is going to close more than 2,600 dealerships by 2010. Evidently, GM announced yesterday that it plans to reduce its number of dealerships by 42% from 2008 to 2010, cutting them from 6,246 to 3,605. I couldn't possibly agree more that the number of GM dealerships is outrageously high, much too saturated, and definitely needs some attention.
Anyway, just a few thoughts. Drive safely and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
