Does your wife WANT to learn? If not, then it probably won't happen regardless of what all of us think.
I taught my wife to drive stick before we were married. Mid-20s vs. whatever age you guys are?? Willingness to learn SOMETIMES changes with age. Right now, my wife has ABSOLUTELY no desire to 'learn' how to drive an automatic.
I think my favorite would be teach her to drive stick, THEN let her decide what kind of tranny she wants in her next car. Not everyone enjoys it the same way.
