do what?
What decisions have any non-exempt, hourly wage employees made that caused this outcome? Joining a union, and paying dues to that organization to represent the blue collar workers in labor talks?
30 years of crappy car designs, choosing substandard safety guidance and inferior grade finish materials for their product lines? I know they didnt decide to spend close to hundreds of millions of dollars per year on salary, bonuses, and perks to executives! http://www.companypay.com/executive/compensation/general-motors-corp.asp?yr=2008
Not stepping up to the plate to say to American consumers "we are sorry for producing this garbage and want to work together to do better?"
Not coming up with an industrywide "refurbish-recycle" plan for trade-ins & used/leased cars which preserves the initial content investment and produces back-end value for the company and the customers?
How many thousands of intelligent blue collar workers with thoughtful ideas about how to make GM more profitable, efficient, and stronger have been walked out the door in the past two decades?
How many younger white collar workers couldnt break through the old white male ranks who just want the next version of their dream 1965 Corvette back on the streets?
The American consumerist mindset is what it is, so to me its purely disingenuous to blame the union contracts and therefore the employees for this situation.
