What is "operating temperature" ??? Seriously! What temp are you looking for?
Fact is, the oil coolers in our Saabs do a great job at dissipating the heat from the oil. If you drive gently, you'll take forever to get the oil to "operating temperature", and you may not ever get there. Oil operates up to a higher temperature than the water does. Since you have more mass in water than oil, the water will be the controlling influence until you start to really get on the motor, and heat up the oil through friction and the turbo. Meaning, the oil temp will never go higher than the water temp until you start to really use the power of the motor.
Unless it's been really, really, REALLY cold for more than 24 hours, you'll be just fine if you keep drive normally till the needle comes off the peg, and into the green. Don't use max boost till the water temp gauge hits "normal" for your car. Other than that, no real reason to worry about it.
Oh - and on a summer night, just let it warm up for a minute, then drive normally. The oil will warm up just fine.
