Is that the Toll Takers have a union deal that nets them about $70K per year. The contract has a sick day policy that results in the bandits all calling in sick on Holidays so that their fellow hacks can be paid double overtime to work a Holiday shift. Because MA is too lame to deal with this problem directly, they are trying to eliminate the hacks through Fast Lane adoption.

A few months back, the head of the Pike tried to force the issue with the hacks: he refused to pay over-time on Easter weekend. Note that he didn't concurrently force the lying hacks to report for work when they all called in sick as usual on the holiday. Backups were four to eight hours for everyone all along the pike, not just the cash payers. He lost his job for being an idiot. Note that the hacks were unaffected by this controversy.
