Because I wouldn't! By that logic we'd all be cruising around in Rovers and Morrises and enjoying their, ahem, superior quality. China does a great job making highly complex consumer electronics that last a few years. That's because they're designed to. If they were made somewhere else they wouldn't necesarily last longer.
China does have quality some issues, and it's usually components sources from secondary manufacturers that break, but it's tough to control the supply chain regardless of the point of assembly. It will be interested to see how they do.
