I agree. In fact, I think there are a lot of people out there looking for something a little different these days. Look at the success of Mini, Beetle (a few years back), PT Cruiser (ditto), Mustangs, even the Asian brands are going for different: Element, Cube, etc... lots of people want something with a little character (for better or worse)... how do you figure out which silver honda civic in the parking lot is yours??
The concern I have going forward for Saab is everything on the table right now is a little different, but significantly homogenized by GM. What Saab needs is a really unique car... I'd love to see a modern take on the SPG, with all the bits in the right places, but modernized, quality materials, + fast! That will sell. bland? not so much... Note Chris Budd's recollection of the best years: 1989-1994... the pinnacle of c900's + the start of the 9000...
The other thing Saab needs is to go back to the forefront of technology, safety, + the environment. I've said it before, but if they got a series hybrid a la Volvo Recharge out asap, they'd have a winner. Howabout an SPG Recharged? I'd buy that! (hell if PML would sell a parts kit I'd build one myself)
James...
