I put in Mobil or Shell if buying branded gas, otherwise it's Citgo, more for location and convenience than anything else. All offer 87, 89 and 93 octane. I use 89 about half the time, 93 the rest in my '96 9K CSE with an Aero ECU. The car doesn't care what I run, but there's definitely more power with the premium and Mobil's or Shell's 93 octane seems better than Citgo. However, it's a non-issue in local driving. I live in a semi-rural area and there just aren't the opportunities to really "get on it" and the local constabulary tend to be aggressive in enforcement.
When taking a trip I always put in 93 and a few full-throttle pulls onto freeways gets the ECU to adapt back up from weeks of local driving. I can tell how good the gas is in general if I go to full throttle and watch the boost gauge. Good premium gets right into the red. 89 octane MAY get to the red, but never into it.
