For whatever it is worth:
I had/have a '99 9-3 se 5 door which had the same type of impact many years ago. I was at a light, the driver of a Ford E-150 drove right into me. No skid marks, nothing. The only thing that stopped him was my car. Did I mention he was blacked-out drunk?

Any way, My insurance wanted to fix the car, so they did. It was NEVER RIGHT AGAIN. I had been hit so hard that a motor mount broke, the radio and acc came out of the dash, and the rotors were warped.

Even though your impact doesn't sound as bad, I can assure you that the hatch will not fit right and it will leak, etc.

The other problem will be when you need to conduct other repairs to the car. Just figure that your clutch goes or the transmission goes. Are you going to want to put the money into fixing a vehicle that has had an accident like that?

I ended up driving my '99 for 4 more years and it killed me every time I would see that rear bumper hanging down ever so slightly. I did however, get lucky in the long run as I just purchased an '02 SE % door in white (my dream car).


Good luck and if you end up needing a '99 9-3 SE 5 door in black of parts, give shout. I know where you can get a good deal. :)
