Depends if it is just body panels or lots more

My 2000 9-3 5-door hatch was hit in a similar fashion when I was sitting at a red light, and the driver behind me (also stopped) was talking on the phone and suddenly stepped on the gas. In my case, the other car was a low-nosed coupe that went under my bumper, hit the tow hook and popped up. this popped off the rear bumper cover and bent all the rear panels similar to your photo. Fortunately, the only other damage was slight bend in the frame behind the rear axle (so it did not affect the alignment or driving of the car).
The other driver's insurance company wanted to total it (due to the cost of repairs). I got additional estimates and found a body shop that would do the work for a lower price, but the insurance company would not approve them (not in their "network"). So, based on evaluation of the damage I let them "total it" and pay me the settlement fee. Then I opted to buy it back from the insurance company at the salvage price and get it fixed. The repairs were done well and the only visible issue is the rear bumper cover sags ever so slightly on the right side. That was four years ago and I am glad I kept the car. The car is not "worth" much to anyone else now as it has a "salvage title", but as it still runs great, that does not matter to me.
But, depending on how much damage you have, the same choice may not be best for you. The key is finding out what is damaged and what the repairs will involve...AND whether there is anything that will impact the safety of the car. Get as much good information as you can.
