Let me also add what this ruse cost the dealer Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Mon, 1 Feb 2010 15:06:55 In Reply to: One from the same side, Bill Homer [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 1 Feb 2010 11:21:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I took the car to this dealer since I was working my butt off then, didn't have the time or the special brake adjustment tool required for C900 front brakes before 1988. I will say that this was a moment of epiphany which changed my behavior as a consumer, made me take on even more difficult DIY work on my cars to avoid being ripped off again.
For 16 of the 24 years since then (multiple job locations), I have worked within a mile of this dealer, so it would have been very convenient to use them for service. But they "pushed my button", so I found a great indy, and he has racked up many thousands of dollars of work on my cars (including two trans replacements, a steering rack, a heater core, etc.), and the only things purchased from this SAAB dealer have been minor emergency dealer-only parts like exhaust hangers and the filler neck for the plastic washer bottle.
I voted with my wallet.
