I have had my 9-5 since 2002 and have only used dealers. I am lucky in that there are several within a reasonable drive. They have taken me without appointments(I was stuck one day and the indy said he could not get to the car for at least 2 days), Saturdays, driven me to public transportation, offered loaner cars and have decent waiting areas with wifi and real coffee. With coupons or a Saabnet discount oil changes are in line with the indys in my area. Major work is more expensive, but I get a loaner and I do not need to take time off from work. My last 90k service was only $100 more than an indy and I got a car and dropped it off on a Saturday. I beleive in preventivie maitenance (not fix it when it breaks) and so rely on dealers to take care of my car. My first car was dealer maintained and lasted 187k miles without an overnight in the shop. I am in New Jersey. There are a handful of recommended indys in my area but they are not open late or on Saturdays.
