A friend of mine working his own shop always points out these newer "hybrid" domestic cars where all the bolts going into the engine block and head are standard thread and all the auxiliary devices bolted on to other parts of car or engine is metric.

So it it seems like the good ol fashioned V8 cast iron does not want to budge and allow metric threads in their body (over their dead body).
