Because as of now that's all they've got. I think Victor Muller wants to get Saab far away from GM. Not that the GM engines Saab has been using are bad, but they still come with the stigma of "oh, ew, that's a Buick engine under there?" With the "premium brand" they're looking to restore, I think having some BMW engineering under the hood would be kind of cool.
