I wouldn't buy a hybird or electirc car right now. But gas is definately going to cost $5 or $6 in the very near future (2-3 years is my guess) and that will change the discussion dramatically. The car manaufacturers all know this and are investing a lot in hybrids and good small economical cars. Beleive me if GM is in this they know there will be a pay off. I'm thinking a few years down the road here--my next car is difinately going to be something very economical. I'm hoping Saab will be stepping up with a 9-1/electric/hybrid/diesel (or all of above) soon. Right now we're in a bit of a lull before the storm and those who start planning now will be ahead of the game. Let's put it this way--I wouldn't buy a left-over Hummer and finance it for five years.
