I did a little search on this and found a consumer site called my3cents.
The number of timing belt failures and other issues with Kias, along with the normal amount of dealer nonsense is pretty amazing. Brakes, trannies, coolant problems, and the timing belt stuff. Several people reporting belts failing right around 60K miles, so there seems to be something going on with this.
Of course, this is a bunch of people venting, but the consistency of the complaints and stories make it sound like Kia really isn't doing much to take care of customers.
Sure, they are not expensive compared to a lot of other cars, but for the target audience--folks who need an inexpensive car--they don't seem to be a good deal. Since Kia is owned by Hyundai, I wonder how Hyundai does with this stuff.
