Square headlight Vagagons... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Thu, 3 Mar 2011 19:31:20 In Reply to: Vanagon Westy, john b, Wed, 2 Mar 2011 20:38:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
86 and up Vanagons with the square headlights are the best. Big horsepower, for a VW bus that is, power steering, power mirrors, AC that really worked well, and some killer models, the Carat, the Westfalia camper and my personal favorite the pop top camper without the useless toy stove, fridge and sink. Almost all non-pop tops came with the "weekender" which was the rear seat that folded into a wonderful and totally comfy queen sized bed.
Four wheel independent suspension, rack and pinion, near equal weight distribution, AC that really worked well, and ROOMY and a one ton (not 1/2 ton but full one ton) truck to boot. If it weren't for them darn leaky head gaskets I'd have one myself. I used to sell the snot out of them when I was with VW from 86 to 93.....
You could drive the snot out of them too, slow is the new fast.
And a few lucky folks got Vanagon Syncros with AWD......
