I'm 60 and can retire with full benefits. As others have mentioned, my pension would be about 40% of my gross. That with a nominal return on my 401k is really not enought with the way we burn money. Just looked at a job opportunity which doubles my commute time (currently ~45 mins-1 hr); would put me into a different flavor of bureaucracy. I asked about part time/consulting which would be all I need, no go for me, you might consider this. At this age, you should be thinking more about easing out gracefully, not starting all over again in a potentially hostile environment. If I was 20 years younger and hadn't been commuting for 30 years, things might be different. Best of luck to you!
