3 out of the 5 dedicated GPS receivers had the Star III chipset. The Droid2 GPS performance is every bit as good, if not better. The initial lock delay, which is the most frustrating part of using a GPS, is helped in the smart phone in two ways:

1. The GPS antenna can be left on all the time, hence no initial lock delay at all.

2. The cell network triangulation helps narrowing down the search zone, the GPS location calculation is helped by that initial proximation, as if the GPS receiver were "warm" to begin with even if the GPS antenna had not been left on all the time.
