(oops, missed my name on the first post)
eh,
I'm using SSD's in a few applications. The intel and Crucial/Micron SSD's are certainly ready for primetime. Can't say so much for other brands. Reliability, is many fold that of rotating disks. The primary drawback is capacity.
I've got a Crucial M4 in my macbook pro, 400MB/s reads, are no joke if you use Lightroom / Photoshop regularly. Not to mention low battery use, and extremely quick boot times.
I've got a pair of Intel X25-E's in my desktop as raid 0. Similar performance to the single newer crucial, but different technology (SLC vs MLC, probably not worth going into here).
The computer doesn't know the difference, so cloning is no different than HDD.
Beware inexpensive SSD's. Read Reviews of specific units. The cheaper units are dog slow, often painfully slow write speed, with all the marketing based on read speed.
That said, if you're talking about a business desktop, don't bother. Buy a good quality new HDD for the $100, and be done with it. Laptop disks are much more prone to hardware failure due to abuse than desktop drives. The only reason for SSD in a desktop, is if disk latency impacts your workflow significantly. A good happy medium for desktop use, is a WD VelociRaptor (10Krpm)
