OT: 2nd sump pump options Posted by ZAAB [Email] (#685) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ZAAB) on Sun, 1 Jan 2012 05:35:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi All:
Just bought a house recently, and it has the potential to take on a bit extra water.
I've re'engineered the current sump pump system, installed a new 1HP in tandem to the older at-least 1HP pump, all in the same hole.
There's another hole in the cellar, but its larger (it was the place where the old furnace was, and cement was poured after it was in place, so its dirt).
I've dug out the nasty grease-oil soaked soil and now I have a hole...got me thinking about another sump pump hole: I've got two other sump pumps just sitting around.
Should I put in another pump system, or is this just gonna waste more electricity, and the water table should act as it does regardless of how many holes there are?
If its a waste of effort, should I refill it with dirt and cement-cap it, or make some kind of cellar pool? (HA!)
The first hole seems to have efficiently drained the water table down to the level of the pumps, but my observations are only 3 months old, and with two big rain storms.
Any experienced SAAB-homeowners with similar potential water issues?
THanks
