We used a venturi type back up pump, they are only good if you have city water. Many people had problems with battery pumps not lasting the duration of the power outage. The batteries only so long and needed replacing every few years, forget to replace them at your own peril. A neighbor ran permanent heavy wire from his battery backed pump to the garage, ~ 20 ft., then used jumper cables to a car battery with the engine running. Worked fine if you are home and have enough gas to last the duration. For minimum dampness in the basement, they recommend the sump water level be kept below the level of the foundation drains. Glad we don’t have those issues here.
