Yes, garage door torsion springs are a real inconvience when they break. Who knew that a 150 lb garage door would feel like lifting an elephant! :o)
I researched replacing a broken broken garage door torsion spring last year, then decided to contact the local garage door guy. After a talk he did all calculations and "upsized" the door springs (larger spring wire diameter, larger spring inside diameter, and longer spring length) to 50K cycles with appropriate sheaves, etc. for around $350.
