Goodyear Eagle GT has interesting tread design and they offer both a non-warranty sport version or a 50000 mile version. I've had two sets and they are very responsive through most of their life and don't get loud as the tread wears down.
I'm now rolling Pirelli P6 Four Seasons Plus. Very quiet and smooth. Not a performance tire but most of our driving is commute plus long highway runs so they are very nice.
I rotate with every oil change at 5000 miles. Makes me very happy to do that and I get even wear. Who are these people that pull their tires and get them flipped on the rim? Costs money and you have to explain what you want to the tire shop, put markings on the tires to make sure they did it right, check their work afterwards, wow - way too much.
