I run about 36 psi. That is higher than the door jamb levels on the c900 and probably even the 9-5.
I don't know what is normal on the 9-3. c900 somewhat preferentially wears the outside edge of the drivers side the most (especially in spirited cornering), but also on the passengers' side, just not as much. rotating front to back cuts the wear in half. Flipping them all over the rim occasionally cuts the wear in half again. Rotating side to side on the car might make a 10% difference, with imho a significant compromise in other attributes (eg water/hydroplaning), at least in the non-directional symmetric tires I've tried...
If you want to flip across the car, an asymmetric non-directional might be fine, but I think you'll get more life by flipping over the rim once, which you can't do with an asymmetric...
personally I don't care a whole lot about tire life... 5000 miles seems short, but I don't think I ever get more than 20000 miles out of a set... I rotate front to back spring + fall when I change from winter to summer tires. I don't put huge miles on any of our Saabs, so my tires are usually all very even.
