Chalk it up to the "want it now" generation. Very few organizations value loyalty these days. The only good thing about today is that it's a two way street. If you don't like the company you work for, you really don't owe them anythng other than a day's worth of work for a day's wages.
I feel like I'm in the older generation and know that it will never be like it used to be. I'm kind of sorry for the younger generation that never got to experience loyalty. The only way to really overcome the current situation is to start your own company or work for yourself. (That's probably a start of a completely different thread.)
