It was actually kinda funny. When I was out when my daughter was born (I took two weeks off to be home with my wife and the baby) they had been doing some hiring. When I came back I was going around talking to the new people, greeting them. and I was amazed at how many of them i knew from the local LEC's here! and a number of them had worked with my previous co workers at other jobs. Most of my previous jobs have been at small companies, where people worked from the day they started till the day they died, or large companies with huge turnover rates.
I doubt they will offer me a counter offer, the amount I'm going to be getting paid more (37%) is very significant.. Plus I'm going to be moving to a data center, where is a place I've always wanted to work and most of my education is for. I have not picked up a job quickly, I knew from pretty early on, i needed to leave the company, and I've been looking, and I've interviewed at a lot of jobs... This place really needed somebody with ISP experience, and I guess they had a lot of people apply that even had more certifications than me, but NOT my experience.
Plus it doesn't hurt I'm really cheap.. while this is a huge raise for me, I'm really asking for peanuts for the job... I'm sure that had some effect on me getting it.
I know I'll miss my co workers. I don't think I've enjoyed any coworkers as I have my current crop of them. at my new job I will probably getting the swing/night shift, and spend as much as 6 hours a day by myself. Which makes me grateful for my audible account!
