that's 5 years. that's pretty good. Quite possibly the date code stamped into the tire is now 6+ years old and if you listen to the tire manufacturers (who say this partially for liability reasons but also because they want to sell more tires), they are due to be replaced for that reason alone... In my experience, tires from good brands, if looked after properly, don't degrade that fast...
I wish Nokian had not pulled their summer tire line from north america. I wanted to put Nokian V on the 9-5. I think that is a very good sort of tire for Saabs + my driving style where we run snows in winter... the entire seems too optimized for the prius crowd. When I talked to Nokian, they said that with enough notice, a set of (H/V/Z, whatever) tires can be ordered and put in the container, but the containers only come once in a while, so the lead time is long. I really really liked a previous Nokian summer (NRH2) we had...
I ended up putting Michelin PSS on the 9-5, and they drive amazingly well (one would hope so!)... but tire wear is likely to be significant. I have no ambitions of getting 40k out of them! ha! half that maybe if I'm lucky! I don't really care too much about that though... so maybe that is the point - are you looking for performance, or long life? the 2 are somewhat mutually exclusive...
