Approximately midway between Cleveland and Toledo, right on the shores of Lake Erie and only 10 miles or so off the Toll Road. Assuming your son enjoys massive Roller Coasters and other "fun till you puke" rides.
For American History buffs there is the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village located in Dearborn, MI. Right next to Ford Motor Company's Technical Center and about 45 miles north of the I-80/I-90 Toll Road running across northern Ohio.
If either of you are fans of the University of Michigan's football program you can stop by Ann Arbor and walk onto the playing field of the Big House. Being a public university I think the gates on the east side are open all day long for people to walk in. I-94 will connect Dearborn to Ann Arbor to Chicago to I-80/I-90 again without paying any Tolls.
