My first car, back in 1968, was a 1963 MG Midget. Came up to my belt buckle. It was 11 feet long. weighed 1455 pounds and had a whopping 55 hp and 61 ft/lbs of torque. Went an honest 92 mph, flat out. But it had go-cart handling and was a blast to drive. Permanently convinced me that speed in corners was much more important than speed in a straight line.
The Spitfire was about the same size but was a little longer, had a few more squirrels under the hood.
Either way, they are tiny compared to just about anything today.
