I don't have a problem with an alternator dying around 100 to 200K miles or a fuel pump or water pump lasting about the same spread.
What I don't like is when for instance the new water pump start to leak 1 to 2 years later because the o-ring at engine block suddenly have a different composition and can't perform the heat and cold tasks anymore.
Or when a little plastic stop arm on the ACC system is clearly under dimensioned that it breaks and then later on break the next arm due to that the electrical motor is way overpowered.
Or how they have managed to perfection coming up with a plastic composition in the radiator tanks where just by the mere difference in temperature of the coolant, the plastic on the hot side deteriorates and break but the same plastic on the cold side is as strong as when it left the factory (and this is not Saab only, Volvo is identical).
Or a little plastic roller guide on the window track is clearly under dimensioned and by design made weaker so that it breaks all the time.
Things like that irritates me when you can hold the part up in front of your eyes and say, what the heck were they thinking. Clearly you can see that this was not designed to last. Or they had NO CLUE that aging and temperature would effect plastic compositions.
